Excavator operation skills, how to repair a road with a slope

May 21, 2025Leave a message

Excavators have an indispensable position in mining, urban construction, road construction, etc. When it comes to road construction, everyone will think of excavators. Whether it is building a highway, a tunnel, or a mine site, you can see the figure of an excavator. Today, Tiejia Xiaobian will talk to you about the skills of excavators in road construction on the construction site.

Excavator road construction
On the construction site, road construction is a very important job and a job that requires certain skills, especially for repairing roads with slopes. If the slope is too large, the car cannot go up, and if the slope is too small, the slope will be too long. How can you repair a road with a slope that is neither too large nor too long?

1. Observe the distance between the top and the bottom of the slope

Before starting to repair the slope, you must first observe the span and distance between the upper and lower ends of the slope to be repaired, so as to determine the size of the slope to be repaired. If you open a road up and downhill directly from a step, the height of the step will determine the length and size of the slope. The higher the step, the longer the slope will be (of course, the length of the slope will also be determined according to the actual environment on site).

2. Use an excavator to build the outline of the road

After determining the slope of the road to be built, start digging with an excavator. First, gather the soil from the upper end of the slope in layers downward, so that the soil at the upper end of the slope can be gathered to the bottom to raise the road surface below, reducing the slope of the entire road. When the slope is gathered from the upper end to about half, use a bucket to flatten the soil gathered to the bottom, and the general outline of the entire road surface has been formed.

3. Slope leveling

When the slope is roughly formed, we need to level the road surface of the slope. Still from the top of the slope, use the bucket to knock down the protrusions, and level the concave areas (of course, experienced operators can generally form them in one go). If there is only a small amount of loose soil and rocks on the ground that need to be leveled, we can use the excavator to rotate and "sweep" the soil and rocks away. It should be noted that the rotation force will be relatively small. When encountering hard soil or a lot of soil, it is impossible to "sweep". At this time, multiple compound actions must be combined to sweep the soil layer. When the rotation force is insufficient and the bucket is "stuck" there, we can use the forearm to retract back and forth and the bucket to open and close slightly to reduce the resistance of the bucket, so as to "sweep" the hard soil away. In this way, when the road surface is relatively flat, use the crawler of the excavator to go back and forth on the entire road surface for a few circles, and compact the road surface with the crawler, so that a slope is OK.

Road construction on construction sites is the most common operation of excavators, but to repair the road well, it depends on skilled operating skills and keen observation. Working conditions are ever-changing, and only when we master more operating skills can we cope with various complex working conditions.
