What is the purpose and significance of barrier-free ramps?

The purpose and significance of barrier-free ramps is the most effective measure to ensure the safety of outdoor activities for the elderly and special groups.
Barrier-free design not only facilitates the life and travel activities of relatively vulnerable groups such as the elderly, the young, and the disabled, but also has great significance in improving the quality of life of the general population. However, it has not received enough attention in current design. Most residential entrances, curbs, square edges and other height differences have no ramps or ramps are missing or severely damaged.

Design specifications for barrier-free ramps:
1. Generally, the net width of a ramp should not be less than 1.50mm, the length should not be greater than 12.00mm, and the slope should not be greater than 1/12. An overly steep slope ll cause excessive physical exertion of the user. When conditions dictate that a steeper slope must be used, a slope should be installed. Safety signs.
2. A wheelchair buffer zone with a depth of not less than 1.50m should be left at the starting point and end point of the ramp; continuous railings and handrails should be provided at a height of 0.90m and 0.65m above the ground on both sides of the stairs and ramps.
3. Wheelchairs must be non-slip and have gentle slopes. When the slope length exceeds 10m, a resting platform needs to be set up. Horizontal rest platforms should be set up at the starting and ending points of ramps and steps.
